Father's Day is just around the corner. Spring seems like a perfect time celebrate my father. Father's and daughters are an interesting relationship. Growing up on a farm and ranch in northern Montana did not bring out the girly nature that I currently possess. I was able to learn to manage money, work hard, be respectful and honest. I am blessed for the father that I have and the upbringing that I had.
My father grew up on a farm in northern Montana as well as attending school in the Flathead Valley of Montana. Summers were spent in northern Montana on the farm and school time was in western Montana.
My father is a self made, talented, hard nosed Norwegian. My father is an advocate for common sense, whatever that means.
As a father, he was tough and uncompromising. It was his way or the highway. With three children, all girls, and little extra cash to spoil or bribe them, he implemented the "Fear Program." Mother said after three children, "no more." My father wanted a boy. Not a problem, the girls can work like boys.
I have grown to understand that my father is more selfless and thoughtful than anyone I have known throughout my life.
I have written memoirs of my childhood called, "Remember When."
